The University of Oklahoma has been awarded the authority to recommend an unlimited number of qualified students for the Confucius Institute Scholarship to attend a Chinese university for one semester, one academic year, or a degree program beginning in the 2017-2018 academic year. A full scholarship typically covers the applicant's tuition, fees for laboratory equipment (if any), fees for basic learning materials, accommodations, and living costs.

OU students often "stop out" of OU for the time they are abroad on this program. It is the student's responsibility to explore how this might affect scholarships, loans, progress toward degree, etc. If students are placed at an OU partner university in China, the Office of Education Abroad can facilitate enrollment in a placeholder credit that may allow some students access to financial aid and scholarships. All OU students should register with the Office of Education Abroad for insurance and tracking purposes.
